Idyllic beaches in Okinawa (Japan)

Usually when we think of beautiful beaches in the world, places like the Caribbean, Zanzibar, Maldives, Thailand or Bali are the ones that pop in our minds. Well, if you didn’t know, you’ll be surprise to find out that in Japan you can find hundreds of beaches that have nothing to envy the named above. These white and soft sand beaches are less known but no less impressive. On these paradise places, the sea is so clean and clear that you’ll see every single fish swimming near you. Even more impressive, the landscapes completely change from north to south.

YAGAJI BEACH

To have access to this beach in northern Okinawa, you have to pay 500 Yen. However, there you won’t find any crowds and it offers spectacular views of Haneji. If you plan to stay and feel like having a picnic, right next to Yogaji Beach you’ll find green areas to do so. Located on the northern coast of Motobu, this beautiful beach is the place where birds of all kinds hibernate. If you want to do something exciting on the area, you could head to the Mangrove Observatory and take a canoe ride, and for nature lovers, camping is allowed.

OKUMA BEACH

Its crystal clear waters and impressive coral reef make this paradise beach one of the most favorite destinations in northern Okinawa. According to some people, its coral reef is as impressive as the Australian one. Despite the reef, this beach is perfectly accessible from the coast; you can even go snorkeling. If you are a surf lover, you are in the right place: its constant wind blows make this spot one of the most favorite destinations for Asian and Australian surfers. The beach access costs about 720 Yen.

FUCHAKU BEACH

This is the best place in Okinawa to admire the best sunsets you’ve ever seen. It is actually advised to watch the sunset while in the water and it is, of course, always nice to see how the sun disappears on the other side of the world . When the water is tainted in golden colors, it is very special. The beach is public and the entrance is free.

ARAHA BEACH PARK

It isn’t very easy to find this beach, because it is hidden just behind San Hamby city. This is family friendly beach where children can have a great time in a huge ship that emulates an old pirate ship. You’ll find this beach in Chatan Town and the entrance is free of charge.

MINNA – JIMA BEACH

North of Okinawa, you’ll find a crescent-shaped island called Minna -Jima. This island is very famous among divers from around the world due to the transparency of its water, which offers great visibility, as well as quite rich marine life. There you’ll also find many beach lovers, mostly Asian, sunbathing on its sandy beaches. It is actually quite easy to get to this East China Sea island, all you have to do is to take a ferry from Motobu town and you’ll be there in about 20 minutes.

ZAMPA BEACH

This is one of the coolest, family-friendly beaches in Okinawa. Not far from the shore, there are some very curious water springs, where children play non- stopping.

ODO COAST BEACH

Located south Okinawa, it is worth to mention this idyllic beach, because it is possible to see countless turtles, since they come to this beach to lay their eggs. It is easy to admire this wonder with a snorkel.
