The famous baby-faced singer Gavin DeGraw is playing live on the 2nd of June at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park, New York, along with the pop-country singer Colbie Caillat. This concert will surely delight all of their fans and it will be a great chance to enjoy good music. Gavin DeGraw is a typical New York kid. He talks, sings, thinks and has fun like a New Yorker. His career is linked to Manhattan, where he began singing in clubs of the west area of the city. His early musical partners were the pianists Lenny and Andrés Revell, with who he managed to attract a lot of people thanks to his performing capacities, his solid voice and his interesting sounds. Since he began his career, he´s enjoyed the warm support and love of his crowd. He was also selected to make the music for the film Tristan and Isolda (2006), We Belong Together. His song I don´t wanna be was also the intro song for the famous teen-drama One Tree Hill. His musical work is very interesting since he is constantly striving to innovate his repertoire and make new recordings, such as the acoustic version of the music from his album Chariot, which he called Chariot Stripped. His golden era began in 2004 and, since then, he hasn´t stopped performing live in the United States along with some excellent TV performances. Despite that he´s not the baby-faced darling anymore, his maturity stands out in his music and his appearance, now having the seriousness to face musical projects. He signed his Chariot label contract with J Records and, thanks to his consistency and good relationship with the public,...
On the 5th of June, at Terminal 5 in New York, the Austrialian rock band The Temper Trap will be performing live. This concert is part of their tour, which stops by in New York to present them their new and old songs. Their success is based on the special chords that come from their instruments, especially the guitars, which have a pulsating sound that provoke interesting feelings of freedom. This has made them a well-loved band among indie rock lovers, despite that their style goes a bit further, from post-punk revival to alternative rock. The band is made up by Dougy Mandagi on lead guitar and vocals, Jonathon Aherne on bass, Lorenzo Sillitto on guitar and keyboards and Toby Dundas on the drums. Since their beginnings, they´ve been compared with great bands such as Radiohead, Coldplay and Massive Attack, despite them saying that they´ve always had their own sounds, different from any other band. Producer Jim Abbiss was so impressed by the new sounds of the band that approached them to offer them a record deal, with Conditions being the resulting album. In this album we can find Sweet Disposition, which became famous thanks to the film 500 days of summer, directed by Marc Webb, which is about a new style of love and heartbreak. The one who started The Temper Trap is Dougy Mandagi, who was stimulated by his father to have a special feeling for music since he was a young kid. Of Thai origin, he did a route of the islands of that country until he arrived in Australia and began to work in a...
Once, because of the entry into the new millennium, making a review of popular 90s music, a prestigious British music critic referred to Radiohead´s album ´The Bends´ (1995) as “the best album of the decade”, but chose not to include its successor in time, the colossally acclaimed ´OK Computer´ (1997) in his list. When asked for the reasons of such clamorous omission, he answered that ´OK Computer´ was simply the best album of all time. Despite the magnitude of this hyperbole, and aside from any consideration towards the degree of truth that such a statement could have -music critics, just like philosophy, literature, art, science and any other creative activity, don´t bother with truth, as you should already know- it wasn´t particularly hard to understand in its true reach, due to its expressive and dramatic meaning. This was because it reflected the formidable impact that both albums had in the post-grunge era of rock music, just when signs of dominant reification were becoming apparent in the following years. Radiohead, who will offer a concert at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ, five miles from New York, on the 1st of June (http://radiohead.com/tourdates/01-06-12_newark-nj) didn´t wish to be victims of their own unexpected success. Their albums, up until then, had described some sort of melancholic, reflective and critical sadness, borderline depressing and where lyricism and art offered all its resistant potential facing the havoc of an unjust political and social order, which was destroying the economy, dehumanizing life, plasticizing existence, heartbreak, the passing of time, death… Suddenly being turned into supermarket and elevator music, into stars of the show, in an acclaimed...

Freedom Tower was the original name of the current One World Trade Center in New York. The skyscraper replacing the Twin Towers, after its destruction in the terrorist attack in 2001, it is the new symbol of American society and will eventually be opened in 2013 in Lower Manhattan. The construction of this building has had a cost of 2000 million dollars and reaches a height of 541 meters, qualifying it as the third tallest building in the world (Burj Dubai with a height of 828 meters, Torres Abraj Al Bail with 601 meters height). 242,000 meters square will be used for offices. This skyscraper is the result of a fusion of ideas from the architects David M. Childs and Daniel Libeskind, of the Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP study, which was introduced in 2003 in the Federal Hall by Governor George E. Pataki and Michael Rubens Bloomberg, Mayor of New York. Its architecture is very particular, it has a square base that is changing as it rises and as a visual results it becomes eight isosceles triangles, ending with the surface of the top floor at a rotation of 45 degrees fromthe base of the building. The building culminates with a glass wall that projects a powerful image. To complete it, it will have a TV antenna that will simulate the Statue of Liberty and a system of lights that will illuminate the skies over New York and will screen over 300 meters from the end of the tower. This building is full of symbols, one of them is that the height of 541 meters which is equivalent to 1,776...
Two weeks before her latest album is put out for sale, this prodigy child (transformed into a successful and mature interpreter) of pop music today, , has scheduled a concert in New York that no self-respecting traveler should miss for anything in the world. The event is scheduled for May 15 and, despite the demand, tickets may still be available. The artist and the site where the concert takes place deserves a possible change of travel with destination to New York. Well, and why is that? First, the undisputed quality (if you do not know her you just will be delighted with the official video that I added below) of this gifted musician that is Regina Spektor. Born in Moscow in 1980 into a family dedicated to music (her mother is a teacher at an elementary school and her father plays the violin, but not professionally), at an early age she had mastered the rudiments of piano. With only nine years she arrives in the City of Skyscrapers where she completed her musical training at the conservatory. Like all young artists of the Web 2.0 era, her first albums (“11:11” and “Songs” of 2001 and 2002 respectively) were recorded on a small scale and under the desktop publishing format. The same has not happened with her sixth release which she now promotes, and at the same time delights her fans with this concert in New York. Under the title “What We Saw from the cheap seats” comes a guaranteed success of an artist in full vocal maturity, after polishing the rough edges so characteristic of her early works. Well,...
The Bamboozle Festival, during three days, will delight the devoted congregated audience at the Covention Hall of Asbury Park, New Jersey with relentless sessions of music of all kinds and hard rock classics as protagonists. Interpreters from the likes of Bon Jovi, Foo Fighters and Blink-182 will be performing. The event starts on Friday May 18 at 5 pm and will last all weekend. Since 2003 the Bamboozle Festival has been held in New Jersey, close to New York and with good access by road to the City of Skyscrapers. The event has its peculiar characteristics with supporters and a massive party after the concert ¡which is held on the beach. Tickets may be purchased online and, as I suppose you´ll want more info , then here is the link of the organizers, so you do not have to search Google: http://2012.thebamboozle.com/. Remember that the concerts are held indoors in the Convention Hall, located in Asbury Park New Jersey right next to the Paramount Theatre which is connected by a gallery. Both constructions references strong late Art Deco and are clear examples of the eclectic aesthetic (between baroque and industrial) that characterizes this little corner of the world. Well right around the corner, on May 18, I think I have mentioned it before , you will have Bon Jovi with Foo Fighters and Blink-182 on stage. Of the twelve albums of this classic hard rock band Bon Jovi little we can provide that has not already been said ad nauseum. We assume that since they are playing a concert in their hometown (New Jersey) with nearly thirty years on...
Since its preview premiere, Spider-Man: Turn of the Dark has generated a lot of talk. Despite that, it has been on Broadway for over a year and it´s managed to satisfy the expectations of its director Julie Taymor, who has been given awards for the music of the show, which was by the leader of U2, Bono, and The Edge. The show is made up by 41 actors to which they add 18 orchestra members and acrobats. The main actors are Natalie Mendoza, who plays a seductive and evil spider, and Reeve Carney, who plays the seductive hero of the story, Spider-Man. To produce the acrobats, where the actors are launched in the air at 37mph, they hired a specialist of the Cirque du Soleil, who was in charge of designing the way to do it and training the artists so that no accidents occurred in these risky maneuvers. However, at one time, the show was stopped for a moment because the acrobatics went wrong and the actors were left hanging from the cables, facing a surprised crowd that didn´t know if it was part of the show or an accident. Initially, and due to these inconveniences, the show that cost $65m was labelled an “anthological failure” by the New York Post, although the New York Times called it a “good show”, without mentioning the cuts due to the technical aspects of the acrobatics. Regarding the music and the script, they´ve also had mixed reviews, with more positive ones since it manages to capture the attention of the spectators majestically. They all agree on the fact that it´s one of...
‘Chicago’ is one of the musicals that´s been on Broadway for the longest period of time. The musical was written by the journalist Maureen Dallas Watkins in 1924 and it was adapted in the 70s for a musical adaptation. Dallas Watkins began to write it after covering the trial of the murderers Beulah Annan and Belva Gaetner for the Chicago Tribune, achieving huge popularity with her chronicles on the sordidness of this story of lust, violence, corruption and adultery that had attractive elements for a theatre play, which took her to write one. The story reached the hands of Gwen Verdon, who read it and saw the potential it had for a music, asking her husband, Bob Fosse, to produce it. Fosse quickly became interested and asked Dallas Watkins to authorize an adaptation, without managing to convince her despite his insistence on various occasions. In 1969, after the death of the journalist, Verdon and Fosse were left with the rights and finally managed to produce the musical. Fred Ebb and John Kander worked on the music sheet and on the script and gave it the vaudeville style that was required for a musical, emphasising on a very interesting aspect that highlighted the central conflict of the play: the outlook on justice and showbiz in contemporary society. The musical premiered in 1975 with great expectations and it received mixed critics and ut stayed on until 1977. In 1996 it was premiered once again with new adaptations which brought even more public. The bare scenography and the amount of public it had meant that the musical recovered all the investment in...
