The Palazzo Ducale is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city of Venice and it´s located in the Piazza San Marco. Its Gothic style make it incomparable and it has two main façades, one that looks towards the main square in the city and the other one towards a beautiful lagoon. This palace is very famous because it was inhabited by dukes and because it was also the headquarters of the court of justice and of the Republican prison. Although what strikes the tourists the most are its beautiful façades with various columns and decorations made out of white and pink marble. There are also sculptures that represent, for example, Salomon´s Trial and Adam and Eve among other beautiful ones. The most beautiful thing of all is seeing how the building changes colour as the sun goes up or down, because it reflects on the marble and it makes the palace turn golden. At one side of the entrance to the building there´s the “Scala dei Giganti” (Stairs of giants), which is the stairway that has various sculptures by Sansovino. There are myths surrounding this palace and they´re very interesting to know. They tell the legend that when it worked as a prison, the prisoners, before being taken to their death had the possibility of saving themselves if they managed to go around one of the columns of the palace without slipping. This is called the “giro de la colonna” (going around the column) but it was near impossible. Rent apartments in Venice to get to know more of its history and...

Venice had, many years ago, some legendary, busy and famous taverns. Very few survived and have lasted until today, and one of them is Il Paradiso Perduto, which is a classic tavern where one can enjoy delicious food and drink and a very reduced price. The place actually sells fast food like sandwiches or snacks to accompany some of the best wines at an affordable price. It opens both for lunch and dinner but the best moment to go is during the latter when it starts to get busy, both with foreigners and locals with great vibe and the desire to meet people. At this moment the music is louder and while some give the place some atmosphere by moving their hips, others decide to sit at the table and enjoy a chat with friends. But one of the most interesting characteristics that this place possesses is that the owner organizes art exhibitions and live jazz and piano performances and, for that reason, the clientele of the place changes according to the show that´s going to take place. Il Paradiso Perduto is one of the most visited taverns in the city and, for getting to know it, the only thing you´ve got to do is rent apartments in...

Missoni is a very famous fashion brand around the world but, above all, in Italy because that´s where it was born, in Varese. Founded in 1953, today it´s an exclusive boutique that works with the highest quality fabrics and it combines textures like no one else. The founders were Ottavio and Rosita Missoni, in 1953. The man had a more exciting story because during the Second World War he was a prisoner in Egypt but, far from letting his head down, when he went back to his country after the war, he opened a sewing shop with his friend. They specialised in wool costumes. A few years later he met Rosita, who would be the love of his life, and they got married. And it´s in this precise moment when they found out that they shared the passion for design and the small stitching fabrics. From then on they´re market leaders and they combine not only wool, but fabrics and other accessories to create the best product for the client. In Venice you can visit this shop in which you will surely find what you´re looking for, that special and unique garment. The Grand Canal of Venice is the widest and longest in the city and, hence, its name. It´s interesting because its trajectory can be seen in all maps because it delimits to perfection the city in two parts. The trajectory of the Grand Canal forms an “S” of water and it divides the city but, the curious thing is that despite being so long, it´s nearly four kilometres long, it doesn´t have many bridges that cross it, only four: Ponte de Rialto, which is the first one that was built; Ponte dell´Accademia, which communicates San Vidal and La Carità; Ponte degli Scalzi and, finally, Ponte della Constituzione, which is the newest of them all which has a modern style and unites Piazzale Roma with the train station. And this way the city of Venice is divided in two big halves. The one that has the Piazza San Marco is the most famous and busiest while the other one is more “popular” although no less beautiful. On this canal, thousands of boats and vaporettos of all shapes and sizes which serve as taxis, float. This city is one of the ones you cannot miss in Europe for it´s singularity of being on water.
