This statue was a gift that France gave to the United States in commemoration of the hundred years of its independence. And the most curious of it all is that the engineer Gustave Eiffel was who, together with the French artist Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, designed and created such architectural and artistic construction. So the creator of the famous Eiffel Tower also left his footprint in the United States participating in the creation of this beautiful sculpture to liberty. If one visits Málaga, one must know the history of its famous people and visit Picasso´s Birthplace House-Museum, since it´s an unmissable voyage that all the tourists should do. Pablo Ruíz Picasso was born in Málaga on October 25th, 1881 and is one of the most famous artists in the world. Creator of various artistic currents, among them cubism, his works are highly valued in thousands of millions of dollars and the whole world recognizes his greatness in the world of art. In the same house where he was born at the end of the 19th century there is a museum in his honour. There various works of art from artists from Malaga are exhibited, an oil painting of his father, “Palomar” and one of the rooms is recreated like if it was the study of Pablo´s father. The building was declared Artistic and Historical Monument of National Interest in 1983 and it constitutes a tourist site within itself but, the Picasso Foundation, is in charge that the life and work of the artist is spread and valued like it deserves to be. Málaga has some museums that are really worth going to for the ancient pieces that they have exhibited. The most important, if you´re interested in this type of objects, is, undoubtedly, the Archeological Museum of Málaga, which is located inside the installations of the Alcazaba. The person who was in charge of bringing this museum forward was Juan Temboury and the first remains found that were obtained were ceramics, wood and chapiters. Because they were found in the Alcazaba they were the first objects that formed part of the collection of the museum which can be enjoyed today. After a few exhibtions, in 1947, they decided to found a museum. The place is made up by the Prehistoric Room, which is the most important one with nearly 400 objects that mostly come from the Science Society of Málaga but there are also some from other places. There´s also the Mediterranean Cultures Room where, as its name indicates, you can enjoy objects that date from a pre-Roman time. Also, and of lesser importance, the Roman Room, the Epigraphy Room and the Rooms of Granada also form part of the museum, where you´ll be able to enjoy Hispano-Arabic pieces which are among one of the most important collections in the country.
