Musée d´Orsay

At the beginning of the 19th century, two large train stations were built in Paris. One of them was the Gare de Lyon and the other one, the Gare d´Orsay. The latter had the most prominent place, close to the River Seine and it was built by the great architect Victor Laloux.   But with time the train station began to be useless because it was very small for the big trains that had startedto be built and, in 1961, the station was abandoned completely and, in fact, they saved it from demolition.   In 1978, the President Giscard d´Estaing decided to convert it into a museum and today it´s one of the most important in Paris which presents art from the 19th and 20th century.   The place doesn´t only have paintings but it also covers art from different points of view and it includes sculptures, prints, photographs, films, architecture and urbanism.   The restoration of the Musée d´Orsay started in 1979 and finished in 1986, and it was inaugurated by the President François Miterrand.   Today it´s impossible to visit the French city and not visit this important museum. If you want, you can rent apartments in Paris and not miss out on this...

Lo Güeno

In Málaga in 1967, José Puerto Galveño founded, on Marín García street, a restaurant called Lo Güeno which became famous for having the philosophy of being a place that was created with an original idea of presenting innovative food.   Quickly, El Güeno became famous and it turned out to be one of the restaurant with the biggest reputations in Málaga and the place keeps itself like it has been for years because it maintains the reduced space of 20 sq metres that the original dining room had while spare areas were made which made it bigger as the years went on.   The quality of the products and their variety are what distinguish Lo Güeno from its competitors and this are the main reasons why its visitors choose it. Many critics state and declare that the tapas that you find in Lo Güeno aren´t just exquisite food but an art also.   Today, the place isn´t just a restaurant but you can also drink excellent cocktails in the bar. The place offers, as well as exquisite tapas, red meat or fish dishes will also surprise the visitors.   You can rent apartments in Malaga and enjoy one of its best...

Castle of Versailles

King Louis XIV ordered to build that Palace of Versailles as a “country house” to be able to distance himself from the great Paris and be relaxed in his mansion with whoever he wanted. Above all, they were young ladies who accompanied him and stayed with him walking around the gardens of the great castle.   In 1692 it was finished building, 31 years after it started, and the King tried to install himself there permanently and take the court towards that region of France. But what he achieved was that the whole royalty felt happy to live in such a big building and to have such freedom (they said it because of the large gardens and parks that the castle has).   Some of the most famous people that lived in the palace are: Mary Antoinette who was the wife of Louis XVI and queen of France; the Marquis of La Fayette; Louis XIV; Louis XVI, his wife and children.   But what tourists who visit the place like the most is its grandiloquence. The Mirror Gallery is famous around the world and today we can appreciate it just like it was in the 18th century. In its 63 metres of length, the whole gallery is dedicted to highlight that economic, political and artistic success of France with works of art by different artists.   The Hameau de la reine (Queen´s hamlet) is another of the most visited areas by foreigners who come to see. It´s the country house that Marie Antoinette ordered to build for her. There she rested and spent her days taking care of her...

Paris National Opera: Opera Garnier and of the Bastille

The Paris Opera is one of the most famous in the world because it was ordered by Napoleon III in the 19th century and for its immense dimensions which convert it in the biggest theatre in the world.   It works as an opera and a museum and it´s open to the public so that they can see it inside. It has the name of Charles Garnier, the architect of the building who won a competition for its construction among more than 170 competitors and ideas. And that way he went from being an unknown to being the architect who built the great Paris Opera.   In the arrondissement (district) 9 of the city of Paris, the Garnier Opera is part of the National Opera of Paris, together with the Bastille Opera.   On January 15th 1875 it was inaugurated and from that day on it became a symbol of the city, known around the world for the magnificent accoustics that it has.   “The Phantom of the Opera”, the famous novel by Gaston Leroux, uses as the scenario the fantastic building that houses magic, mystery and many myths like the one that says that there´s a lake underneath the building of the Opera.   Another curious story that keeps the soul of the Opera alive is that the night of its inauguration, Charles Garnier had to pay for his ticket like everyone else, and they only gave him a secondary balcony.   If you want to know more stories about this wonderful building and see it´s beautiful architecture and decoration, rent apartments in Paris and feel part of...
