If you´re an English book lover and you´re in Paris, finding an extensive and interesting catalogue of English books will be complicated and, just because of that, many years ago the American Library in Paris opened which, as its name indicates, presents books in that language.
But as well as having thousands of books in English, it also presents newspapers from the United States and the most important countries that speak this language, as well as magazines and other materials so that the avid readers can fully instruct themselves.
It opened in 1920 as a nonprofit organization and it grew until it became the biggest English book library in the whole of Paris and one of the biggest in Europe.
The library is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 10am until 7pm, and Sundays from 12pm until 7pm. These timetables are reduced in the summer when people prefer to be in the street enjoying the beautiful landscape of the French city.
