The Best Open-Air Movie Venues

In summer, life takes place outside. Good weather invites us to move everything outside. Meals on terraces, sports out of the gym… even movies are hitting the streets!

The initiative of taking film out into the open air to enjoy movies under the stars  has been so successful that today pretty much all major cities include outdoor film festivals in their summer planning. BARCELONA

Cinema under the skies of Barcelona in Montjuic Castle. From July 6 to August 8, 2014, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10 pm. Admission: € 6. This is one of the best known of the city’s festivals. And it offers a little bit of everything: a compilation of the best movies of all time, live music, picnics and shorts. MADRID

The cinema, the summer movies of the Cibeles Palace, takes place from July 9 to August 31, every night from Tuesday to Sunday at 8 pm. Admission: € 4. Based on the Anglo-Saxon concept of “pop-up” cinema, they screen all sorts of films, from classics, musicals, cult films, to independent cinema, Spanish movies, and hits from the 80s and from all over Europe in unconventional spaces. http://www.thecinema.es/.

NEW YORK

LONDON

Hot Tub Cinema offers a variety of events at different prices. Here the concept of outdoor cinema is taken a step further by adding bubbles. The idea is to watch movies under the starry sky while you relax in a Whirlpool bath. People generally also wear costumes, sing, dance, drink and play.
