The Best Places to Break-Up

After we have talked about the best honeymoon destinations a little while ago, we are doing 180º turn following up with the exact opposite, because sometimes love is not eternal. So if you are thinking of leaving your partner, what better place than at one of the sites we suggest below. These are not to be taken lightly. You can find inner peace in being alone at a retreat in Thailand, break up at the Museum of Broken Relationships in Zagreb or sign divorce papers at a hotel that specializes in saying goodbye. And no, we are not kidding. Everything you are about to read in this post is real.

The Museum of Broken Relationships in Zagreb, Croatia

The idea behind it is to collect all objects that are rendered useless when a relationship ends. Started after two Croatians separated in 2006, it has since become a great success. Since this sanctuary for the ex’s was launched, it has added objects from Italy, Malaysia, Japan, the UK, France, and even India. Just getting rid of anything that reminds you of the other person can be therapeutic. And what can you see there? Everything from unworn wedding dresses to thongs, dildos, love letters and mobile phones. Of course, all donations are anonymous, and they offer absolute discretion. This curious museum has been so successful that it has even gone on tour through Europe, America and Asia.

Divorce Hotel, The Hague, The Netherlands

This small, unromantic hotel has specialized in ending bad marriages. Many couples go there to sign their divorce settlements because it is advertised as a discreet hotel that facilitates couples and even offers advisors to help them get through theses difficulties in the best way possible. In addition there are two options: couples can choose to sleep together or separately during the divorce. That way, everyone can choose for him or herself whether or not to share one last night with his or her former partner.

Break-up in Ibiza

Ibiza is an island that offers as much as anywhere else in the Mediterranean, Europe and, I daresay, the world. So if what you want is to end your relationship once and for all, this will be possible in Ibiza. This can easily lead to partying and drowning one’s sorrows in alcohol. Breaking up in Ibiza will be like a mirage, because you’ll be having so much fun your mind can disconnect from everything else. It will certainly be much easier to move on.

Sleep together shop, Tokyo

It’s strange, but in this store you can take a nap with strangers. They rent beds by the hour, so it’s a great place to meet new people and take the chance to sleep together. If you want to leave your relationship, you only have to propose it to your partner. This is not, however, suitable for people who snore or drool at night. If you have just broken up, here you might find a new one. But, please note: Sex is not allowed. No kidding.

Kamalaya Wellness Retreat and Holistic Spa, Thailand

If you are seeking a place to turn the page and start a new life, this is your Zen paradise. Disconnect from the material world, from all that is banal or redundant and begin a new journey in connection with nature and caring for each of the chakras of your body. More than a hotel and much more than a spa, it is rather like therapy in itself. It would be a very good way to welcome a new life filled with inner peace and relaxation. And it’s also a great way to forget those who hurt us and start from scratch on a new path en route to the next adventure.
