Borghese Gallery

In some cases that constructions are small, they are made so much more interesting and the things that you discover as you walk through are really surprising.

This is the case of the Borghese Gallery, which is a museum that´s situated in Villa Borghese which was built between 1613 and 1616 by the order of Cardinal Scipione Borghese, Pope Paul V favourite nephew.

Inside there´s an incredible amount of works of art in a relatively small space and you can observe and enjoy paintings of Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Caravaggio, Domenichino, Guido Reni and Rubens among many others.

Many of the most important works in the gallery were acquired during the 17th and 18th century and some of them turned out to be so attractive that Napoleon transferred them to the Louvre in 1807. In the 19th century more material was added, as well as at the beginning of the 20th.

In the museum, as well as having paintings by some of humanity´s most important painters, you can also enjoy ancient objects from the most valuable, large and imposing sculptures.

The Borghese Gallery is a classic in the Italian city and not visiting it would be a real sin, even more for art lovers. If you want to you can rent apartments in Rome and walk through its corridors.
