Catpeople in Valencia

On February 10, 2012 Spanish indie lovers have a date with the Galicians Catpeople in the mythical El Loco club of Valencia.

February is a lucky month for music in Valencia and its many concert halls. Many groups continue their winter tours anxiously awaiting the arrival of the better weather to get back out on the outdoor stages. Catpeople, The Wailers, The Right Ones or Nach the rapper are just some of the names that invade the city of Valencia with their chords and good vibes.

Catpeople took off in 2006 when they began their collaboration with Pupil Records and triumphantly crossed the barrier of success, leaving behind their past identity as Isosceles and Magic Noise. Since then they have given birth to 5 albums.

Catpeople are presenting songs from her new album, Love Battle, premiered in 2011 at the Internacional Festival de Benicassim (FIB). With 10 new Love Battle song, the band awakens its creativity diving into an unknown style for them following brit pop bands like Interpol and even adding a certain The Cure feeling to their music. Love Battle is something a little more experimental and “loose”, it seems that the band have been liberated from their shackles of past sounds and have begun to explore a much more original and eclectic sound. We find a little of everything in their style, ethnic melodies, eighties electronic flavors unexpected time changes and ultimately a fleeting trend of repetitive and catchy pop anthems.

They have not  become pioneers overnight. There are songs that keep reminding you of bands like Architecture in Helsinki, Arcade Fire or Delorean, but without a doubt you will be listening to an album of great quality that has been treated with great love.

The old hits and new songs that you will hear in this gig promises a night of fun and enjoyable music, which is precisely the feeling it conveys when hearing their music. When you finish listening to songs like “Safari” positivism runs through your veins, demonstrating once again that indie pop does not have to always be apathetic or depressing.

Catpeople play in the El Loco on Friday February 10 at 12 pm and admission at the box office and online costs only 12 euros. A great price to enjoy a great show.
