Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower or “Tour Eiffel” as they say in French, is the most representative monument in Paris and, consequently, of the whole of France, for its grandieuse architecture but also for its history.

 

For the festivals of the first centenary of the French Revolution in 1889, Gustave Eiffel built this enormous tower in two years, two months and five days, so that it could be presented in a temporary exhibition in the city of Paris.

 

But the grandiloquence of the tower and it´s slender beauty captivated all Parisians and the whole of the world instantly, therefore the tower stayed definitively in the city of Paris and, since then, it´s become one of it´s major icons.

 

Today, the Eiffel Tower is visited by thousands of millions of people every week that come from all parts of the world to see the large and famous Parisian tower that even at night offers a unique performance when its incredible different coloured lights shine on and off.

 

There isn´t a tourist that has visited Paris without going up the Eiffel Tower to appreciate the city from the heights. More than 250 millions people have visited it since its inauguration in 1889, which shows what a favourite and loved monument it is by everyone. Even the statistics say that the tower is the most paid-for (you have to pay to go in) visited monument in the world.
