The name ´La Pedrera´ is what Casa Milà is informally known as, the famous building built at the beginning of the 20th century and that was finished in 1910. The architect was no less than the great Antoni Gaudí. Like all the works he directed, the modernist style building became an art icon and it´s visited every year by thousands of tourists who come from all over the world to attend the events that take place there. The building had been ordered by the Milà family, hence its name, but later became a public building where today there is a cultural institution with a very broad programme. From the 25th of October 2011 until the 26th of February 2012, the exhibition of the artist Perejaume is open to the public. With the peculiar title of ´Ai Perejaume, si veies la munió d´obres que t´envolten, no en faries cap de nova!´ (which translates as ´Oh, Perejaume, if you saw the amount of works that surround you, you wouldn´t make any more new ones!´), the exhibition holds a total of 200 works from the Catalan artist, one of the favourites of all time. There are bands who split up after having left only one memorable album provoking all sorts of nostalgia and impossible desires; there are bands that do so in their highest moment leaving a painful and perfect memory; there are bands that split up a bit later than they should have but it´s hardly noticeable because the albums that they were releasing were somewhat out of time, by pure inertia or commitment or lack of courage, in order to definitively break a few dependable ties that have been too strong, they add new deep dimensions to their work that will always be remembered as unbeatable and touched by grace with the added epic and heroic dimension given by the conscious or unconscious crepuscular sense, especially when it´s shared by the artist and its crowd; and there are bands who never split up but insist in living off their past, accepting the price of becoming a mere parody of what they used to be and, amplified by their history and their enormous media power, they become objectified icons, someone else to go and see and listen and who refuse to acknowledge their slow disappearance and regurgitation in the shape of a flagship of experience without feelings on behalf of the society of spectacle. One has the impression that Enrique Bunbury, who will play at Sant Jordi Club in Barcelona on the 21st of January http://www.nvivo.es/sant-jordi-club-salas-31619 was since the beginning of his career a parody of himself, a member of one of these latest type of bands. A parody pof himself that however wanted to be taken seriously, something that possibly made...Atelier Sala d´Art Barcelona

Maika Makovski in Barcelona
2012 seems favorable to the rereading of Edgar Allan Poe. From his very threshold there is something in him that seems to presage disaster and decay. If stories like The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar, or The Fall of the House of Usher might seem, among many others, obvious choices to illustrate in different ways, the growing sense of millennial end of the world faced an era of to an unprecedented crisis that persists in deluding monstrously itself in a trance related to that caused by the arts of mesmerism, only temporarily able to steal the most frightening vision of internal decay and putrefaction (global warming of the earth and including the energy of crisis), the way it´s extraordinarily powerful, films such as Lars von Triers Melancholy make you rhyme of depression, they with the advent of symbolic or literal end of the world fatally announced, by the always amazingly accurate Mayan calendar brings to mind, so subliminal and unconscious some of the texts of science fiction and psychological-philosophical speculation lesser-known of the admirable American writer, the horrifying mystery of his death still makes the streets of the city of Baltimore shake. A mystery only comparable to of the mysterious and sudden disappearance occurred in the shocking and controversial end of that journey to the limits of the world, is the Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym. Did Poe have to leave for some reason the story at the climax, or rather a pioneering wanted to leave an open work after the events narrated brought to a point that no language could reach and to account for them,...Out of China Barcelona

This is the story of the people who have chosen to be free in societies deep rooted in their lands, that entire generations grow old tied to their properties, this is the story of the people who appear on the roads acting like they wanted, singing and dancing with passion while charming those who listened to them.
