The equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius
As the months go by, the escalade of signs preaching a symbolic end of the world seem to have become more undeniable as they prepare the path to the apotheosis of the prophecy of the Mayan year, validated both because of the mysterious and shocking precision of its astronomic observations as for the tendency to shelter in the hidden during these times of crisis and decadence. At least in the Western countries, the financial side is the manifestation of this crisis that seems to affect the citizens more directly. After a shy promise of recovery, the crucial situation to which the posture of the most right-wing sectors of the Republican Party have forced the United States, that nearly declared itself bankrupt at the beginning of last August because of the refusal of the conservatives, with a majority in the Lower House, to pass the budgets for the next year if Obama´s administration didn´t compromise to reduce the social programmes and not increase taxes, caused a new attack by the financial speculators – who despite causing the biggest economic downfall since 1929, carry on operation in the most absolute deregulation and impunity and even imposing their politics to the governments in most part of the world – to the national economies of the most vulnerable countries, that caused a massive dip in the Western stock exchanges and left in evidence once again the possibilities of economic recovery in this part of the world, at least mid-term. Such is the situation that even the least pessimistic analysts say that we´re living the worst moment since 2008 and many are the voices...Le 104 Centquatre Paris

The Castle of Sao Jorge in Lisbon
At the very top of the Alfama, the oldest place in Lisbon, losing ourselves in the memory of time, stands, like a sentinel, the Castelo de São Jorge, continuously refurbished, reconstructed and conditioned. In its terrace, with bird´s eye view, the red roofs of the aristocracy and melancholy of Lisbon appear. Going into it past its walls is visiting the authentic Portugal of narrow streets, colourful façades, clothes hanging from the windows and echoes of fado. This is where the ancient city refuges itself and where they preserve every single one of the layers of history which have superimposed themselves one on the other. But let´s start at the beginning. The latest archeological excavations have manifested that before Lisbon received, on a par with the name ´Felicitas Julia´, the privileges of a Roman city around about 60BC, it was a place occupied by Greeks and Phoenicians who would use its natural port for commercial activities. These would be the navigators who, taking advantage of the natural hill of the Alfama, built the first rudimentary fortress made of wood. On top of this construction, the Romans lifted the first stone wall. Centuries later, different Barbarian tribes arrived to the city of the Taugus and destroyed everything that they came across. When the Muslims arrived, around 711 AD, such was the destruction that Lisbon was barely a town inhabited by a few hundred souls. That´s when they lifted the double wall which has lasted until today. The interior precinct, the one that´s next to the Tower of São Lourenço, is the one which served as a royal residency, while the exterior wall was...Stories of Rome of Enric González
Enric González is a Spanish author who was born in Barcelona. The son of a writer, he felt the love for writing, investigations and travelling since he was in his cot. At the young age of 17, he began his journalism career and, today, he has a large CV which makes him well known around the world. Stories of Rome is a book that he wrote with a lot of love after living in the wonderful Italian city for a few years. The book is a literary work of art because he manages to reflect with words how magical and strange every corner of the city is. Enric González first found these real-life postcards in the Italian capital and then he took them to his book, where we can find history, law enforcement, heartbreak and death. Every city in the world has a characteristic that makes it unique, and Rome has many years with it that makes her solid, mystical and ancient, but never forgettable. Any person who has visited Rome will remember it forever, especially if they use this book as a tourist guide. Stores of Rome isn´t a summary for tourists that says which places you should visit but it´s good for valuing the city and having a general outlook before travelling there. Because everyone loves taking tips from a friend when we visit a new place, Enric González is, on this occasions, this said friend. A key topic on the book is everything related to the Church and The Vatican, it´s enthralling to read word for word what the author thinks and how he develops astutely...Le Club des 5 Paris Restaurant
