The Palacio Real of Madrid is famous not only for is grandiloquent architecture and beautiful gardens but also for its political, cultural and artistic side. The Palacio Real, like its name indicates, is the official residency of the King of Spain, and although the doesn´t really live in it every day, it is used for different State ceremonies and acts.

The construction of the palace started in the 9th century. In that period they constructed a building which was also a sort of fortress. But in 1734, everything caught fire and the palace was lost. Later, King Felipe V, wanted to build a new building which occupied the old one´s space. But this time he made it to be built in stone and brick so that no fire could destroy it.

All the Spanish Royal Families have gone through this castle which is impressively big. Its gardens are admired by the whole world due to their organization and beauty. But also, the interior of the Palacio Real is national heritage because in each room you can find thousands of collector´s items, unique in the world and of great value. We can find oil or acrylic paintings, stone or marble statues and very big worked mirrors, among other things.

Each reign, depending on the period, gave the palace its special decoration and that is how, for example, thanks to King Carlos III, the Palace keeps the Throne Room, the King´s Chamber and the Porcelain Room.
