Although Vienna already offers a wide array of musical performances (opera, symphony, jazz festivals, etc.), there are two places engaged in bringing the best and most successful Broadway productions to the ancient Austro-Hungarian capital. We are talking about the Raimund and Ronacher theaters. The first is located in the Mariahilf district near the center and the second is a short walk from St. Stephen´s Cathedral, in district one. “Sister Act” tells the peculiar adventures of Deloris Van Cartier, the young, rebellious lover of the gangster Vince Laroca. A bizarre story makes her the main witness of the murder of a policeman committed by her boyfriend. She is therefore placed under witness protection. Since she is naturally restless and unruly, the authorities think it best to hide her in a nunnery. Not surprisingly, adapting to this new reality is difficult, so Mother Superior asks the young Deloris use her vocal talent to direct the disastrous convent choir which she does with such good fortune that the group manages to turn into a real success among the parishioners. This transformation reaches the ears of the Pope who asks the sisters to move toRometo sing at theVatican. When preparing to leave, the gangster Vince Laroca kidnaps the girl, but the nuns who had taken such a liking to her manage to rescue her and fulfill their mission inRome.
