Taurine Museum of Seville

In Seville, one of the characteristics which is closest to its culture are the bullfights and those who want to get to know its history and evolution can visit the Taurine Museum which is located in the area underneath the stands by the 10 and 12 lines.

The place was inaugurated in 1989 in an act that was carried out by the Countess of Barcelona. The Taurine Museum is divided in different areas.

One of the rooms is made up by old objects that date from 1700 and, in different display cabinets, you can see representations of how the society of that time was but it´s also dedicated to how the members of the noble families played between the 17th and 18th centuries. In the second one you´ll be able to enjoy paintings and works of art dedicated to this particular subject that were made during the 19th century. The most famous of all is ´Cogida de muerte de Pepe Illo´ that Velázquez painted. The third one was exclusively for the tournament of the time of Belmonte and Joselito el Gallo who are two of the most famous bullfighters in history. Finally, in the fourth room, you´ll be able to find the most modern exhibits that go from bull´s heads, bullfighters clothes, capes and works of art of modern artists.
