Temple of Debod and Plaza España

The Temple of Debod is an Egyptian temple situated in the city of Madrid. It was a gift from the old State of Egypt to the Spanish people for their help that they gave them in 1968 when UNESCO wanted to save the Nubian temples from destruction against the construction of the well in Asuán.

That´s how the Temple of Debod got to Madrid and it´s situated net to Parque del Oeste, very close to the Plaza de España. When it was installed in the city, it was attempted that it had the same cardinal location. This way it was located from east to west in a land where before there were some bloody barracks from the Spanish Civil War.

Visiting the place is one of the favourite things for tourists because behind the temple there´s the Plaza de España where there is a fountain to commemorate Miguel de Cervantes.

That´s why you should make your way there if you´re in the city. The Temple of Debod is over 2200 years old and it has that name because it was built as a tribute to Amón of Debod and Isis, two gods of Egyptian mythology.

If you want to get to know this and other monuments in Spain, get Madrid accommodation and go out and walk around the city because it has a lot to offer.
