The exhibition is part of an effort with the MACBA Foundation and Caixa Foundation to promote the new readings to the collection, interrelated issues such as criticism, media, language, poetic experience, including giving support for this reinterpretation of important stage to understand the present.

There is nothing worse than the linear interpretation of history, art and performances. Hence Volume! is an essential exhibition to observe the complexity of a period of change, the so-called change of era.

The end of the twentieth century and beginning of the twenty-first century was marked by the collapse of real socialism and the installation of neoliberalism, as well as the information society. In that context, the art will reflect, its subject, as in the material and symbolic matters in our society with all its contradictions and new interpretive paradigms of ideologies.

In the field of representations there are new technologies, such as sound and video image of the artist and the transient materiality of the work, leaving reflected in the visual media. It may be that the most interesting phenomenon, because there will be a decorative art which will prevail. It will be an ephemeral art that reinforces the symbolism of the moment and that comes from a post-modern ideology, which reinforces the idea of the subjectivity of the creative and media look like a loner, and where the importance of the viewer comes as to be a vehicle of concepts.

From these changes, the curatorial concept builds a about artistic practice reading from the ethical positioning and not from the place of the purely aesthetic creation, which will be reflected in the X document.

Biennialization of art, where artists are kind of nomads who seek to exhibit their creations influenced the representation and the media since the days of creation were limited to artists who had to travel between biennials and large exhibitions in the world.

All these changes that happened to art in this transit from one century to another and from one era to another transformed the perceptual systems and thus the incorporation of new artists and new audiences. It is this process that is woven with a special conceptual quality at Volume exhibition! And all are invited to examine this change through art.
