Altes Museum

Altes Museum, known as the Old Museum, is a work of art within itself because the building, designed by the German architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel, is a really imposing neoclassic construction.   Its construction finished in 1828 and it´s located in the Museuminsel which is the Museum Island in the city of Berlin, where the most important museums in the city are and it possesses one of the most interesting state collection of antiques in the city.   The building, considered one of the most important in the whole of Germany, is a perfect example of Classicism and it was designed from 1822 to 1823 but it was inaugurated in 1830. It is 87 metres long and 57 wide and the exhibitions that are inside are grouped in two different inside patios, and it´s close to other important museums like the Neues Museum or the Pergamonmuseum.   The Altes Museum is one of the most important in the city and the whole of Germany and, for that reason, it´s unthinkable not to go there. You can rent apartments in Berlin and enjoy its...

Holocaust Memorial

In 1999 the German government decided to build a commemorative monument in the honour of the murdered jews around Europe, but the construction started in 2003, after having done the project and found a place in the centre of Berlin.   Designed by Peter Eisenmann, a New York architect, the Holocaust Memorial is a work of great value for all German citizens, for the jews and for the world population that visits the place when they are walking in the streets of Berlin. The emotional impact that it generates seeing those big cement squares is very difficult to forget. But that´s exactly its intention, remembering what happened so that it doesn´t ever happen again in the history of mankind.   The whole monument is over 19 thousand sq metres big and it has 2711 steles fabricated out of concrete which rise along the field. The colour grey that dominates the monument represents to perfection the feeling of sadness and aberration for what happened in the war.   The last concrete square was built in 2004 and since then the memorial has been open to the public every day of the year, day and night. Visiting this monument, although sad and strong for the sensitive ones, is indispensable if you go to Berlin, because it will help you remember that what happened, must never happen again.   Rent apartments in Berlin and get to know more about the history of the...

Q-Dorf

West Berlin has many interesting things but one of the busiest is, undoubtedly, Q-Dorf, one of the most visited nightclubs in the city, both by locals and tourists who love constant partying.   To go to Q-Dorf it´s not necessary to wait for the weekend because, differently to many other clubs, this one opens Monday to Thursday. Here nobody will look at you strangely because the diversity of this place is immense. Finding people dress in leather, red boots or lights of many colours in each corner is very normal.   At the place there´s the Party Police who, if you feel bad and you want to know how much alcohol you have in your blood, they´ll measure it for a few euros. This is Q-Dorf, a nightclub which is closer to a psychedelic film than reality itself.     If you want to go to one of the city´s best clubs, you can rent apartments in Berlin and have a nice time with...

Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower or “Tour Eiffel” as they say in French, is the most representative monument in Paris and, consequently, of the whole of France, for its grandieuse architecture but also for its history.   For the festivals of the first centenary of the French Revolution in 1889, Gustave Eiffel built this enormous tower in two years, two months and five days, so that it could be presented in a temporary exhibition in the city of Paris.   But the grandiloquence of the tower and it´s slender beauty captivated all Parisians and the whole of the world instantly, therefore the tower stayed definitively in the city of Paris and, since then, it´s become one of it´s major icons.   Today, the Eiffel Tower is visited by thousands of millions of people every week that come from all parts of the world to see the large and famous Parisian tower that even at night offers a unique performance when its incredible different coloured lights shine on and off.   There isn´t a tourist that has visited Paris without going up the Eiffel Tower to appreciate the city from the heights. More than 250 millions people have visited it since its inauguration in 1889, which shows what a favourite and loved monument it is by everyone. Even the statistics say that the tower is the most paid-for (you have to pay to go in) visited monument in the world.    If you too want to see this monument, emblem of the city of love, art and music, rent apartments in Paris and go up quickly to the Eiffel...

Santa Maria delle Grazie

The church of Santa Maria delle Grazie was also a convent and it´s famous today because one of its walls is decorated with the famous mural of “The Last Supper”, by Leonardo da Vinci.   For this reason, this church and the convent were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO at the end of the 20th centur.   The name that this church has is given in the honour of a small chapel that used to be in the same area in the 15th century, dedicated to Saint Mary of Graces. The church that we can see today is much bigger than the one that used to be here and it´s decorated with beautiful art works of the artists of that time. For example, one of the chapels of the large church has on its walls frescos by Gaudenzio Ferrari, with the whole story of the Passion.   That´s why the church is one of the favourites among tourists who want to see art.   If you too want to get to know this and all the other churches in the city, rent apartments in Milan put comfy shoes on, grab your map and go out and see this beautiful Italian...
