Santa Maria delle Grazie

The church of Santa Maria delle Grazie was also a convent and it´s famous today because one of its walls is decorated with the famous mural of “The Last Supper”, by Leonardo da Vinci.

For this reason, this church and the convent were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO at the end of the 20th centur.

The name that this church has is given in the honour of a small chapel that used to be in the same area in the 15th century, dedicated to Saint Mary of Graces.

The church that we can see today is much bigger than the one that used to be here and it´s decorated with beautiful art works of the artists of that time. For example, one of the chapels of the large church has on its walls frescos by Gaudenzio Ferrari, with the whole story of the Passion.

That´s why the church is one of the favourites among tourists who want to see art.

If you too want to get to know this and all the other churches in the city, rent apartments in Milan put comfy shoes on, grab your map and go out and see this beautiful Italian city.
