The Natural History Museum of Milan was founded in 1838 and since 1893 it has occupied the place that it is today. The place is a cultural and scientific institution that depends on the government of the city and it was born when the naturalists De Cristofori and Jan donated their collections to the government. Actually, Jan was the first director of the place. Currently it´s the most important natural history museum in Italy and, also, it´s considered one of the most important in Europe. Subseuently, in 1943, the place was destroyed because of the bombings it suffered in the Second World War and, despite the damages being important, when the war ended it was rebuilt and it reopened in 1952. From the moment that it opened its doors, the place has the compromise of renewing itself, acquiring new collections and developing courses to teach the people with a great scientific value. The Bagatti Valsecchi Museum is one of the most visited museums in Milan and it´s an nonprofit institution which is located in a historic house in the district of Montenapoleone where the Baron Bagatti Valsecchi lived. In this particular museum you will find all the art collections from the renaissance and the decorative art that he acquired during his life. Before dying, the Baron asked that one of his wishes was that his collection was exhibited in his house and that´s what´s happening today. At the place the visitors not only can enjoy the art pieces but also of the original atmospheres that the house that the Baron lived in had in the 19th century. For this reason walking through its galleries and atmospheres will transport the visitor to a time that few places remember. The Poldi Pezzoli Museum, located in Milan, was founded in 1881 by Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli for his large and diverse art collections and works of great value. Thanks to all the works that he possessed, this place, which was damaged during the Second World War, became a majorly important museum not only in Italy but around the world. In the golden room you can admire Nicola da Tolentino by the artist Piero della Francesca, Portrait of a Woman by Pollalolo, La Madonna with the boy by Mantegna or Il lamento di Cristo by no other than Botticelli. As well as having in its galleries some of the most pictorial Italian works from 1400 until 1700, you can also admire in the place furniture, carpets, jewels, clocks and even weapons from Roman times in the year 700. You can see the armory and a series of 3359 volumes of press that go from the 15th century until the 19th. At the shores of the Danube river, there´s the Fisherman´s Bastion and it´s one of the most beautiful tourist attractions in the city of Budapest. The Merletto Museum is one of them, which is located in the Gothic-style palace that, at first, used to be a school in the city´s square. The museum presents different fabrics, the majority of them laces, that were made throughout the years with a technique that, currently, has been lost with the passing of time. There are laces that were made by nuns from the different Venetian convents in medieval times during the 16th century. After the Industrial Revolution, this type of art faded into disuse but it was saved from extinction because they created, in 1872, the school for learning how to make these laces. By the 19th century there were five thousand experts in the subject but because the use of these laces went out of fashion, the factory had to close and today, this type of art is exhibited in the Merletto Museum.
