Chapitô is located in a very beautiful and calm area of Lisbon and it´s situated in a place without too many signs that there is a restaurant inside. It´s behind a fabulous construction that was built in the 17th century and, at the time, it was a prison but now it´s a circus school. When you get to Chapitô you´ll have to find the place carefully but if you know you´re going to a restaurant you´ll find where it is by a little image on the door. As the visitors go into the place they realize the incredible view of the Alfama and the river that it has. The place takes advantage as well of the open and closed spaces, so that everyone can enjoy a hot afternoon in summer or a cold evening in winter. The speciality of the place, which is especially busy with young students although you also get older clients, are the tapas and the music that they play, which include hip hop, chillout and Indian music. Malasaña is the area in Madrid where the alternative scene takes place. The most important area is around the Plaza Dos de Mayo, which many compare with Camden Town in London, the East Village in New York or the Barrio Alto in Lisbon although here the emphasis is focussed less on the trendy places and more on the bars. The Plaza Dos de Mayo is to the west of Chueca and to the east of Argüelles and it´s currently one of the more relevant places where you can go for a drink and to enjoy the night because, in the 70s and 80s, that´s where the movement called Movida (cultural change that happened after the death of Franco in 1975) developed.
