From the creators of the acclaimed musical ´Mozart´ and the no less praised ´Elisabeth´ arrives the new musical show ´Rebecca´. This magnificent show already has a very prestigious award in its honours list, the Grammy to the best composition and lyrics.
Sylvester Levay and Michale Kunze, once more joined forces to create a great show, which after its trip around Austria, Japan and Helsinki, arrives in Budapest. The show will take place at the Operetta Theatre on the 10th and 11th of January.
Daphne du Maurier is the author of the novel ´Rebecca´ and she was one of the most successful writers of her time. The book became a number one in sales after its publishing in 1938. It´s undoubtedly the masterpiece of Daphne du Maurier, author of other works like ´Jamaica Inn´ and ´The Birds´. ´Rebecca´ was taken to the big screen in 1940 by the great Alfred Hitchcock, winner of the Honorific Oscar. The chosen actors to star in it were Joan Fontaine and Laurence Olivier.
The story happens in first person and is told by a young and naive girl. She is in a hotel in the Côte d´Azur in France with Lord Maxim de Winter, whose wife, Rebecca, died mysteriously. After going out briefly, they ended up at the altar. The second Mrs De Winter moves to Manderley, the hostile and cold house where the fatal events took place, where it seems like the spirit of Rebecca is still walking around the corridors in the house. The new wife feels like the housekeeper, Mrs Danvers, follows her and watches her every step with constant suspicion and malice. Meanwhile her husband, Maxim becomes more distant and seems mysteriously abducted by the house, who seems to hide many secrets. The situation gets worse when they find the body of Rebecca, who drowned. That moment is when she tries to find out the absolute truth on what happened to the first Mrs Winter.
The musical maintains the same mysterious suspense and atmosphere like in the novel and the Hitchcock film. A thrilling story which will keep the spectators glued to their seats awaiting the unexpected ending.
