Parliament

The Budapest Parliament is one of the most magnificent monuments in the area, admired around the world for its dimension and shapes.

 

Built in 1885, at that time it was the most expensive and biggest building in Europe. It is 268 metres long and 118 deep. There you can find nearly 700 rooms, 200 of which are offices, and over 20km of stairs.

 

Its dome, which is beautiful and be appreciated from distance, stands out in the city because it´s 69 metres tall and it´s decorated with beautiful stained glass that shows the Hungarian Crown.

 

Built on the shore of the River Danube, it offers one of the best views of the city. It´s mainly neo-gothic style and we can see it in the columns of its façade, but it´s also got influences from the Renaissance and Bizantine art.

 

Today it´s one of the five most beautiful buildings in the world and it´s third in size, after the Romanian Parliament and the Argentinian. That´s why it constitutes a tourist point which is unmissable in the city of Budapest.
