A long history goes with the Marlborough Gallery, which arrived in Barcelona in 2006. Founded by Frank Lloyd and Harry Fisher in London in 1946, it would transform itself into one of the most prominent galleries, due to its avant-garde look on art, which incorporated the emerging trends of the 20th century.
The initial partners were joined subsequently by David Somerset. The growth and expansion to different capitals and important cities in the world began in the 1960s. That´s how the inaugurated galleries in Madrid and Barcelona, which from their early days have organized exhibitions in a coordinated way, incorporating other institutions.
The Marlborough Gallery carries out various activities, such as buying and selling art, where they include contemporary 19th and 20th century paintings and sculptures, as well as the promotion of their artists and exhibitions.
Marlborough Barcelona has a room for graphic works which has permanent exhibitions and monographs of contemporary artists.
The opening hours are from Monday to Friday from 11am until 2pm and from 3pm until 7pm. Saturdays only available with previous booking.
A good plan if you´re going to rent apartments in Barcelona is to visit the Marlborough Gallery and get to know its permanent exhibition.
