Helsinki is well known for the cruise ships arriving from the Baltic Sea, for its famous Suomenlinna Fortress and the Senate Square, but this wonderful city has much more to offer, especially in summer when the sun is constantly illuminating the city 24 hours.
It´s curious, but the Finns enjoy very much the hot and humid weather. Normally, Finnish houses have a sauna in which family members often sit to talk with friends. In Helsinki, you will be able to use the services of the famous Kotiharju Sauna, which is the only public sauna in the city, and still is heated by a traditional wood stove. It is a place where you can have a quiet bath along with 30 completely naked strangers.
But this is not the only place where you can get naked, because there are also some nudist beaches where you can enjoy your nudity.
One of them is Pihlajasaari Beach, which is near the city of Helsinki located on an island. Here you will enjoy a unisex nudist beach perfect for sunbathing but too rocky to swim.
Helsinki is also near Seurasaari, but here you won’t be able to mingle with people of the opposite sex because nudist areas are restricted to women or men.
Moreover, in downtown Helsinki you will find a public swimming pool called Yrjönkatu. Here swimsuits are optional and you can swim with or without them. In addition there are unisex sections and also exclusive for men and women.
