Archeology Museum

Lisbon is a city rich in museums with collections that go from automobiles to the navy, going through paintings of some of the most famous artists in the world and the Museum of Archeology is one of the most important that the Portuguese city has.

 

It´s located in the west wing of the Monasterio Jeronimos and it presents archeological relics from different places around the world. Among the most important of all there are jewels that belonged to the Steel Age and to the Visigoth people, who were a Germanic tribe who penetrated in the Late Roman Empire.

 

They´ve also got Roman mosaics and ornaments, Arab artefacts from the beginning of the 8th century and a section, which is of the most important of the museum, of funerary art which belonged to the Egyptian and Greek-Roman empires.

 

Also one of the most important treasures in the country is in the museum and they belong to some excavations where they found bracelets, rings and golden hoops.
