Rome
The Eternal City is a destination that combines history, culture and cuisine as well as activities for children so they can have a little fun after visiting the museums and monuments. One of the best places to go is the Macchine di Leonardo Museum, which showcases the inventions of this Italian Renaissance genius and where children can enjoy interactive displays. Rome is a city with many pedestrian areas, which means it is safer, and the distances between the most important spots are not that great. The Roman Colosseum is sure to impress anyone, regardless of age, and the restaurants on the pleasant plazas of the Trastevere serve Italian food at a great price, which means you won’t have to spend a complete fortune every time you eat out. Of course, you can also buy your own food in Roman markets to cook back at your apartment in Rome.
Barcelona
Barcelona is a perfect destination for family travel with activities that will appeal to everyone. During the day you can swim in the waters of the Mediterranean, sunbathe or play in the sand on the city’s beaches. In the evening you can stroll through the city center and shop at the many stores. Barcelona also has several options for theme parks nearby. Tibidabo is located in the city itself, while Port Aventura and the Costa Caribe water park are about an hour´s drive from the city. And if you like soccer, you can visit Camp Nou and its museum, the home of FC Barcelona, and see all their trophies and walk on the stadium’s turf. The city also has many interactive museums like the CosmoCaixa or MIBA, the Museum of Ideas and Inventions, where the whole family can have a great time.
Berlin
Although it may not seem like it at first glance, Berlin is an ideal destination for families since there are so many things parents and children can enjoy together. The Tiergarten is a huge park in the city center where children can run free while parents relax in the shade of the trees, read a good book or have a picnic. It’s also a perfect place to take a stroll with paths along lakes or simply in the shade of the many trees. If you’re kids get bored by history museums, take them to Legoland, a true Lego paradise where they can have fun building, or MACHmit, an interactive museum designed especially for children that’s full of activities and features a wooden maze. You can also spend a day at the Berlin Zoo or take a sightseeing boat trip on the Spree River.
Having a family doesn´t mean you can´t travel. Look for apartments in the center of Rome and enjoy a vacation full of activities that are fun for all ages.
