Cantina da Estrela Restaurant Lisbon

The Cantina da Estrela restaurant is the gastronomic area of the Hotel da Estrela, an exlusive designer place in a noble area of the city.

 

The concept of Cantina da Estrela is very original and it invites the diners to feel back in the typical school canteen with a relaxed atmosphere and creative cuisine. The client is the one that “grades” the plate, paying what he considers that it´s worth in a price range established by the restaurant every day.

 

The chef in charge is Luis Casinha, who prepares daily dishes like the roast octopus with sweet potatoes, different types of cod, salmon with sesame, ovened steak, lamb, risotto and various starters. The menu is full of funny things and warnings, like the one that precedes the dessert list, which warns you that they will only serve dessert to those who finish all their food.

 

In all their dishes, from the starters to the desserts, they mix Portuguese flavours with Mediterranean influences. Herbs, local ingredients and olive oil are all there.

 

The area where it´s located is one of the most attractive ones, with large houses and well-looked after apartments in Lisbon which are surrounded of green areas and wide sidewalks.
