Casa de Pilatos

The Casa de Pilatos is situated next to the Plaza de Pilatos in Sevilla and it´s a construction that dates from the 16th century and it´s a mix of Italian Renaissance with the Spanish Mudéjar. This was constructed as a prototype of the Palacio de Andalucía.

The Marqués of Tarifa, one of the many owners that the place had, came back from a trip to Jerusalem and did important reforms to it. From that moment it was called Casa de Pilatos and is currently the houses of the Dukes of Medinaceli.

You can go into the house through a big marble door that was created by the Italian artist Antonio de Aprile in 1529. When you go through the great door you find the Main Patio which is decorated with various sculptures of Roman emperors and Greek mythology.

Also, this patio has two wonderful gardens that can be enjoyed especially in summer, full of flowers and green. The place is in between the districts of Santa Cruz and Macarena and it´s very easy to get to, both by public transport and by car.
