Here is the ranking of the most curious cafes and restaurants in the world. We will explore places where you can experience a romantic dinner sitting on the toilet, horror themed meals, penises as main course and a café in which you will feel in the magical world of Freud’s dreams. After some research we have found the most curious places, although some of them quite disgusting, none of them lack originality.
Cabbages and Condoms (Bangkok, Thailand)
This restaurant is the Mecca of latex. At Cabbages and Condoms you’ll find countless condoms decorating the place with the idea to promote the use of them to prevent STD and unwanted pregnancies. This is one of the few restaurants in the world that cares of the sexual health of its clients. In fact on the walls, there are dozens of posters that illustrate how to use condoms to prevent disease as HIV. Don’t forget to visit its beautiful garden of love.
Some of their specialties are: noodles with shrimp, chicken dipped in honey and fried grouper with ginger.
Modern Toilet (Taipei, Taiwan)
This is a Modern restaurant, where diners sit down on toilets to have their meal and instead of using napkins, for wiping the mouth and fingers while eating, they use toilet paper. Soup dishes are also served in small toilets and the tables are bathtubs with a glass on top. Although you may not believe it, the signature dish of this restaurant is a chocolate ice cream served with the shape of a stool in a small toilet and the drinks are served in a plastic urinal that you can keep as a souvenir.
As for the food, apart of the chocolate ice cream it is quite normal; the only funny thing is that you have to eat it directly from a toilet.
Guolizhuang (Beijing, China)
This restaurant never fails to amuse the most curious clientele; I am talking about Guolizhuang, the world´s first Penis Restaurant. You may ask yourself why do they eat something like that? Well, in China it is believed that the penis has many nutritional properties; they are good for skin and also for the kidneys, because they are diuretics. At Guolizhuang you’ll have the chance to try a wide range of penises that goes up to 30 types including: sheep, snake, crow, duck, frog and ox. Some are larger and some smaller, here the size does matter.
Freud Cafe (Moscow, Russia)
Right after stepping into Freud Cafe you’ll find the typical Freudian couches, which will be the perfect place for you to relax. This café offers the perfect atmosphere to think about the traumas inherent to our sex life in a slow pace. You’ll find interesting names in the menu, including “Libido Sexualis,” which is nothing more than tomato soup, “ambivalent meat chop” and “split personality tuna”. The Super-Ego is very present throughout the place, as well as some famous phrases by this philosopher who don’t go out of style. If you don’t fancy the one in Moscow, there is another similar Sigmund Freud café in Vienna (Austria). In both you’ll get to know interesting facts, as that despite having been operated more than thirty times for mouth cancer, he never quitted smoking or that the number 62 deeply scared him, to the point that he never wanted to stay in a hotel that exceeded 62 rooms. We don’t know if in one of those hotels Freud created his famous theory, based on the interpretation of dreams.
