Where to eat vegetarian in Lisbon

Nowadays, eating vegetarian food is a very common thing. Many studies have confirmed that we actually don’t need to eat meat and that eating vegetarian food is great for our health and also for the environment. If you are wondering what is the population of vegetarians in the world, the answer is “not that many”. Apart of India, a country where vegetarianism is widespread (for religious reasons), the percentage of people that follow a vegetarian diet is 1%, and a small 0.1% of vegans. In total there are about 60 million of vegetarians in the world, which is rather a small percentage. The food market has realized about this reality and has used vegetarian products as a powerful marketing tool. All this to say that if you are going on vacation to Lisbon, which is not strictly vegetarian country, you will have no difficulty in finding a place to eat. PSI

This is a place where the very Dalai Lama once ate, how not to trust this prestigious vegetarian restaurant? This cozy restaurant is located in a small public garden called Jardim dos Sabores, near the center of Lisbon, at Alameda St. António dos Capucho Street. The price for 3 courses is around EUR 20. Highly recommended.

Green Pepper

Here you’ll find a vegetarian buffet that changes every day. If you want to know the menu of the day before going, take a look at their website. To get there, take metro Praça de Espanha. Green Pepper is on Avenida José Malhoa, 14 – Loja 2, Campolide.

Terra

If you still want to taste the traditional Portuguese cuisine, Terra is your place. The buffet contains organic ingredients and 80% vegan food. Terra is located in Barrio Alto in Lisbon, at Rua da Palmeira, 15.

Bem-Me-Quer

If you enjoying eating in the dark, or you want to experience such thing, Bem-Me-Quer is your place. It can be very fun, just give it a chance. Bem-Me-Quer is located on Avenida Almirante Reis, 152.

Celeiro Dieta

This is a restaurant chain specializing in macrobiotic food, but not entirely vegetarian. If you have a limited budget, it is possible to eat in Caleiro Dieta and spend less than 10 Euros. The restaurant is on Rua 1º de Dezembro, 65, you can get there with the blue line of the metro, station (Restorers).

Oasis

Big portions and affordable prices are two good reasons to come to Oasis. Located at a stone’s throw from the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum, there is not a better place to eat vegetarian or vegan. Rua Marques de Sa da Bandeira, 68 B, metro Sao Sebastiao.

Hare Krishna

If you like experiencing new things, at Hare Krishna it would be you who chooses what to eat.  Here, it is possible to see monks working as waiters. The menu in this restaurant changes every day. Harae Krishna is located on Rua Estefania, 91, R / C and it is open only on weekdays at lunchtime, from 12 to 15 hours.
