Faro de Moncloa

The Faro de Moncloa, also known as the “Illumination and Madrid Local Council Communications Tower” is situated in the Avenida Reyes Católicos. It´s currently closed to the public but it will re-open its doors again in 2011 when it will be possible to go up to the highest part of the tower, which possesses a spectacular view of Madrid. You can even enjoy a nice meal in the restaurant.

The tower is 110 metres tall and it possesses a deck of 400 sq metres. From this deck you can enjoy an excellent view of the northwest part of the Spanish capital and the mountains of Guadarrama.

The view from the Faro de Moncloa allows you to see the Arco de Triunfo de Moncloa, the Palacio Real de Madrid, the Almudena Cathedral, the Telefónica building, which is in Gran Vía and the Picasso Tower, among many other things.

The architect of the project was Salvador Pérez Arroyo and in 1990 he was designated to be in charge of doing the design of the structure which was finally finished and inaugurated in February 1992.

Without doubt the Faro de Moncloa is one of the most interesting monuments to visit in the city and if you want to get Madrid accommodation you can do it.
