The Gemäldegalerie, Picture Gallery in English, is a museum in Berlin that has one of the most important European art collections from the period that ranges from the 13th until the 18th century and, for that reason, millions of tourists visit its galleries every year.
The place possesses works of art of very famous artists that were the most important ones of their time such as Tiziano, Rafael Sanzio, Lucas Cranach, Albert Dürer, Caravaggio, Rembrandt or Rubens among many others. The museum was inaugurated in 1830 and, subsequently, was reconstructed in 1998.
The gallery tries to give the biggest importance possible to all the works that it presents and, for that reason, it exhibits few works in each room differentiated by period or style. The most important ones are, undoubtedly, where they exhibit the works of Rembrandt and the Madonnas of Rafael.
In the section where they present paintings related to the Renaissance, one can enjoy the work called “Amor Vincit Omnia” by Caravaggio, which is next to the one by Giovanni Ballone that carries the name of “Sacred Love in front of Profane Love”.
