We´re talking about the theme bar-restaurant Jekyll & Hyde. Even though everyone knows it´s fiction, inside everything is abnormal, creep and the ideal place for those who enjoy thrills during dinner or while having some drinks with friends.

As the New York Times says, this place “offers an atmosphere similar to a theme park”, because the walls move and they seem to close around you, the portraits also move or seem to be watching you, all of this keeping the diners in a permanent state of suspense that elevates one´s alert senses.

It´s very funny to see the waiters dressed in costumes from the late 1800s and Mr. Jekyll becoming Mr. Hyde. These games keep your mind occupied in the atmosphere and not on the food or drink.

The menu has 62 different dishes and the names of the dish are like Create your own Monster or Frankenstein Burger, which has cheese, bacon, mushrooms and onion. Also, there´s The Mummy with steak and different cheeses to choose from. There are also pizzas with names that follow the line of famous monsters.

For children from 10 years old, there are special menus at lunchtime, such as Dr. Jekyll Pizza. They enjoy it because it´s full of mystery and the children at that age love it.

To drink there´s an excellent selection of Scottish, English, American, Australian, Dutch, Canadian, Czech, German and Latin-American beers.

The bar-restaurant is set in the novel of Robert Louis Stevenson Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, which is about the psychopathic double of personality through fiction. For that, he created the character of Gabriel John Utterson, a lawyer who investigates the sick relation between his friend Dr. Henry Jekyll and the misanthropist Edward Hyde.

The plot of death and mystery ends with the discovery that Hyde had transformed into Jekyll through a drink discovered in the laboratory. In Jekyll´s confession letter, he tells that when he was young he discovered that human beings have a conscience that´s made up of good and bad, and that both forces are in a constant struggle, so he developed a beverage that allowed to separate the components of one self, empower the perverse side and erase the good side, but the bad side became dominant and brilliant, overshadowing the good one.

This novel that tried to show human contradictions sold quickly by being seen as a mystery novel and only when it was reviewed in The Times did it become a book of deep psychology.
