La Lonja de la Seda

Lonja de la Seda was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and it´s a building which is, undoubtedly, unique in the world and for that it´s worthy of visiting in the city of Valencia.

Its construction started in the 15th century but it was finished in the mid-16th century, although they still practised many reforms and remodelations on it to keep it in good condition so it could be visited by tourists from around the world.

This building reflects the “Siglo de Oro” (Golden Century) of Valencia because it´s built with the abundance that existed at that time.

It´s called “Lonja de la Seda” because, at that time, the textile industry was flourishing and silk what was sold and bought the most. It´s located in a key place in the city, in front of the Mercado Central, a centric place that all tourists visit.

As an old building it´s also got in its interior wonderful works like the room of the columns, where seemingly infinite enormous helicoidal columns prevail. Also, the tower of the Lonja de la Seda is very famous and beautiful.

If you want to visit this unique work of architecture, rent apartments in Valencia and, map in hand, go out and see the city to enjoy it.
