The Louvre Museum, probably one of the most famous in the world and one of the most striking for its pyramidal construction at the entrance, is one of the most known sites in Paris and France. The place, that was originally the Royal Palace, became a public museum at the end of the 18th century and it finds itself in the 1st Arrondissement, in the centre of the city.
There are approximately 35 thousand objects exhibited in the place, which are distributed along the three wings of the museum. The museum has a diverse collection that ranges from antiques to works from the mid-19th century.
A large part of the collections consists of paintings and sculptures from European artists and some rooms house works by Romanian, Egyptian and Oriental artists. But as well as the invaluable art that you can find in the Louvre, there0s also a gallery called “Objets d´art” where you can find clocks, furniture, tapestries and more.
Among the most famous works there, there is the Venus of Milo, the Mona Lisa, or the Rebel Slave.
The Louvre Museum isn´t only one of the most important in the world for housing some of the most important works in the history of art, but also an icon of the French city that you can´t not visit.
