If you like and follow this groove, you should attend the avant-garde music DCode Festival to be held in Madrid on 24th and 25th of June. This year DCode returns with new vigor after several years of absence, thanks to an agreement with the Complutense University of Madrid signed with promoter Live Nation to deliver this proposal that is a tradition among lovers of art and music.

The proposal that inspires DCode is part of a new philosophy: to create a mixed space where music and art are to meet new and renowned artists to display and share their artworks.

Concerts will be held at the Cantarranas Sports Complex behind the School of Information Sciences at the Complutense University. The exhibition Art Barte will be open from June 10 at the Centro de Arte C.

Art Barte is an innovative exhibition that integrates the audience with the artists through the exchange. The artworks in the exhibition are not sold for money, but they are exchanged by means of barter, so attendees must have previously thought well what to offer for an  artwork. Bids will be made at the end of the exhibition and the artists may accept or reject offers of goods and services the viewers may make. An innovation is that viewers don’t know the names of the creators of the artworks until the end of the exhibition.

In previous versions, famous artists like Tracey Emin bartered one of her works of art for a number of hours of French lessons. Others changed them for staying in special places, web designs or psychotherapy sessions. This concept of exposure based on fair trade was created by the British curators Laura Jones and Alix Janta has caused admiration and interest among those who enjoy art and have no money to purchase an artwork.

This year in Art Barte the Galician artist Angela de la Cruz will be presented; she was nominated finalist for the Turner Prize 2010 and, among other renowned artists, she will exhibit and interchange with the audience their works. There will also be Miquel Barcelo, Eugenio Merino and Ouka Leele among many others.

Among the distinguished bands that will invade the music scene there are the American My Chemical Romance, which will hit the stage with their punk rock music by playing the songs of their latest album Danger Day. There is also a Granada indie group named Lory Meyer, the Baltimore quartet All Time Low that will delight with their gritty riffs, The New Raemon or the Nordic The Sounds, among many other highest quality bands.

While DCode will put all its energies during the Festival, its activity will continue with a variety of activities throughout 2011. For now, organizers have made ??a series of recommendations for no one to be left out of this party, like bringing a hat and some water to avoid dehydration and heat stroke, so characteristic of these summer days.
