Catpeople in Valencia

On February 10, 2012 Spanish indie lovers have a date with the Galicians Catpeople in the mythical El Loco club of Valencia. February is a lucky month for music in Valencia and its many concert halls. Many groups continue their winter tours anxiously awaiting the arrival of the better weather to get back out on the outdoor stages. Catpeople, The Wailers, The Right Ones or Nach the rapper are just some of the names that invade the city of Valencia with their chords and good vibes. Catpeople took off in 2006 when they began their collaboration with Pupil Records and triumphantly crossed the barrier of success, leaving behind their past identity as Isosceles and Magic Noise. Since then they have given birth to 5 albums. Catpeople are presenting songs from her new album, Love Battle, premiered in 2011 at the Internacional Festival de Benicassim (FIB). With 10 new Love Battle song, the band awakens its creativity diving into an unknown style for them following brit pop bands like Interpol and even adding a certain The Cure feeling to their music. Love Battle is something a little more experimental and “loose”, it seems that the band have been liberated from their shackles of past sounds and have begun to explore a much more original and eclectic sound. We find a little of everything in their style, ethnic melodies, eighties electronic flavors unexpected time changes and ultimately a fleeting trend of repetitive and catchy pop anthems. They have not  become pioneers overnight. There are songs that keep reminding you of bands like Architecture in Helsinki, Arcade Fire or Delorean, but without...

Politically Incorrect in Barcelona

The delirious comedy “Politically Incorrect” is soon arriving at the Condal Theater of the city of Barcelona. Possibly one of the most successful and funny vaudeville comedies that have been interpreted in recent years. The play is based on the work of the English author, actor and producer Ray Cooney who premiered the play with the name “Out of order” in 1990. The original adaptation of this show is by Paco Mir. The plot of this hilarious play is a rather peculiar romance , the impossible love affair between a minister and a deputy of the opposition, trying, unsuccessfully, to consummate their affair. The plot starts to get complicated with the appearance of a corpse in the window of his hotel room. With the arrival of the disrupted minister assistant , the husband of the deputy, the wife of the minister and the nurse who cares for the mother´s assistant , the story begins to take a few really funny  turns. Finally an unscrupulous hotel maid who come into play will try to take advantage of this crazy situation. A play to enjoy a good time at the theater, laughing and forgetting everyday concerns for a while. Without a doubt, a good therapy to overcome routine. Paco Mir does an excellent job in directing this play, which will have the participation of Pep Ferrer, Josep María Gimeno and Noelia Perez, among many other actors of recognized prestige. It will be represented on the 28th of January and the 4th, 11th and 18th of February at the Teatro Condal of Barcelona. The Condal Theatre is one of Barcelona´s most emblematic...

Typical dishes in Istanbul

Istanbul in all of its dimension is one of the most interesting cities to visit. Nightlife, exotic locations and tourist bars, the music scene, art, and the most delicious foods make it an incredible destiny. When visiting Istanbul, you can go east and west in a single day simply by crossing a bridge, that is just wonderful. Its oldest areas preserve relics of the Roman culture era and Egyptian obelisks buildings and canals. Having been invaded and ruled by these cultures, the impression you get being in this space is overwhelming. So many cultures have made Istanbul a center of hybridity and flavors that survives in the city and its  efforts to modernize itself and keep up with other major cities in the world. If it is fine dining you are after in Istanbul you certainly will find it. When you´re looking for something to eat, do not hesitate to ask and check the menus carefully. Nor be afraid to ask in English, because almost everyone uses it and understands it in Istanbul. In Istanbul, your adventure begins with breakfast. Thus, the Turkish breakfast is basically Turkish tea, pay attention to the preparation and flavor of this tea, for it has nothing to do with the traditional Western tea, it is just not the same. Its aroma and bitterness will conquer you as you accompany it with a plate of sliced  tomatoes, cucumbers, cheese and olives, which you can serve along with bread, jam and butter. Its really refreshing and invigorating, especially after a long night of partying. After walking the streets of Istanbul, and if you fancy something to...
