Concert of Architecture in Helsinki in Barcelona
One thing is certain in the world of music and that is that indie pop is booming. Many promising bands are appearing and, over time, demonstrate that they deserve a place in the world of entertainment. One of these bands, which is already among the best since its formation in 2000 is Architecture in Helsinki who were born in Melbourne, and is formed by Cameron Bird, James Cecil, Gus Franklin, Jamie Mildred, Sam Perry and Kellie Sutherland. One of the most interesting features is that virtually all its members are multi-instrumentalists and for that reason, you may hear the members playing, for example, guitar on one song and on the next song drums and this is one of the reasons which the music of Architecture in Helsinki is so diverse and has so many styles passing through electronic, indie, rock and others. Another feature of the Australian band is they often play experimental instruments or brass instruments or flutes invented by them, as well as analog synthesizers, samplers and more. All of this, as expected influence their particular sound. The band, although formed in 2000, it became known little by little, over time and after long tours they shared with already established groups like Death Cab For Cutie or artists like David Byrne became part of the mainstream. Today they are one of the most relevant indie pop bands The opportunity to see them live presenting their latest album Moment Bends released last April and promoted by a tour around the world is now. This time the band will play in Barcelona on October 26th at Sala Razzmatazz 3.:...Orhan Pamuk and Istanbul
Given the personal conviction of Orhan Pamuk, based on his first-hand experiences as an Istanbul-born, that the feeling that best serves to describe Istanbul in the last one hundred and fifty years, and notably from the disappearance of the Otoman Empire, is of bitterness, which has a lot of melancholy, or rather an essentially bitter melancholy. And the fact that this statement, in no way exclusive in relation to the unconditional love that Pamuk feels for the city, a true protagonist of some of his most important books, is not easy to digest for a number of his co-citizens, the Turkish writer has confessed to feel some sort of undeniable happiness every time that he reads of listens other say that melancholy is the most identifying attributes of old Byzantium, like it happens for example in the books of French writers who visited it in the 19th century most notably Gérard de Nerval, from who it can be said that he carried his ´black sun of melancholy´ wherever he went. And, on his tail and always following his footsteps, his friend Théophile Gautier, author of a splendid book of articles titled ´Constantinople´. They both contributed to make Pamuk feel vindicated for having wanted to speak so much about the feeling that this city produces to him, where he´s spend his entire life voluntarily. Curiously, Nerval never piled on the agony when he talked about Istanbul in his ´Voyage en Orient´. It´s just that the melancholy was stuck to his skin and his soul and, despite his attempts to distance himself from them, it was impossible to do so. When...Open 25 in Madrid
