Andrea Mastrovito in Milan
From the 15th of September until the 18th of November, the 1000eventi Gallery, located in Via Luigi Porro Lambertenghi 3- Milan, displays an interesting exhibition dedicated to the contemporary reconstruction of an old concept, the martyrdom. The exhibition, entitled Martyres, by the young Italian artist Andrea Mastrovito, is his third solo exhibition in this Gallery since the beginning of his career in the art world. The artist, born in the small town of Bergamo in 1978, now lives and works in Bergamo and New York. His rapid rise in the world of art began with the first solo exhibition in Milan Ciocca Gallery, entitled “Rock Around the Clock” in 1998, when he was only 20 years. That time, his work caught the attention of critics and his name began to appear in most of the art venues in Italy (especially Milan, Turin, Florence and Rome). Mastrovito uses different techniques in his works ranging from drawing to puzzle, and passing through painting, collage and paper installations or video projections. In 2009, he also did the animation for the film Tutta colpa di Giuda, directed by Davide Ferrario. He also participated in the collective installation of the ceiling at Museum of Arts & Design in New York with a work entitled Slash / Paper Under the Knife. His collages made between 2002 and 2006 suggest a reflection on the relationship between arts and nature by using a forest metaphor, which becomes an inside stage, where the artist finds tigers, warriors, philosophers, and above all, himself. It is a mysterious and wild nature that often becomes a tortuous maze, which indicates the...Restaurant Tabernas Coloniales II Seville

Millencolin in Barcelona
Milencolin, the most famous punk-rock band of recent years, will give a concert on the 22nd of September at Apollo Hall, located in Nou de la Rambla 113. People say that fans of Millencolin are divided into two groups: those who love their first period, which proposes a melodic hardcore, and those who prefer the second, which is more influenced by rock. An album produced between those two stages is the famous “Pennybridge Pioneers” (published in 2001), the fourth album by Millencolin and the one that positioned them as one of the best punk rock bands on the international scene, with songs like “Penguins & Polarbears”, “No Cigar” and “Fox”, hits they always play in each of their tours. This album, released 10 years ago, deserves a tribute. This is one of the reasons why you should come to Apollo to see their second to none performance, one of the three confirmed in Spain. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster (22 Euros + expenses) and ticket (26 Euros). Millencolin formed in the Swedish city of Orebro in 1992, when the leader Nikola Sarcevic (vocals and bass) and guitarist Mathias Farm left their previous band (the Seigmenn) and, together with Erik Ohlsson and Fredrik Larzon formed a band “skate-rock “called” Melancholy “after one of his favorite skateboarding tricks. But the “Melancholy” was a retro group, which did not conform perfectly to the street subculture trends that were their main inspiration. For this reason, later they decided to change their identity and name to Millencolin, a more contemporary less sad sound. When they published their first work, entitled “Same Old Tunes”, the...Istanbul Biennale
Between the 17th of September and the 13th of November, Istanbul gets ready to celebrate, with the Istanbul Biennale 2011, a gathering of the best contemporary artists, art theorists, and international public in the name of seeing, and contemplating art and creation. The Biennale is organised by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and the Arts (IKSV) which since 1987 has been successfully running this event now considered to be one of the most important, exciting arenas for the world of international art. The Biennale has paved the way for an international cultural network covering all spheres of art, and has been a great generator for great cultural tourism. Today the Istanbul Biennale competes with the most prestigious art gatherings in the world such as the Venice, Sydney and Sao Paolo Biennales. Its creators had the brilliant idea of designing a model of exhibition which is open to a dialogue between the artists and the spectators, which goes by the motto: Contemporary art in traditional spaces, changing the relationship between the artist and the museum – an institution historically accused of being an elitist space. The geographical situation of Istanbul makes it a connecting point between Europe and Asia; thus a collision the East and West, so it was essential that the project be a place open to transcultural dialogue. The curator of this year´s Biennale are Jens Hoffmann and Adriano Pedrosa, who have conceptualised the event as a space which will attempt to explore the relationship between art and politics. In this edition, the exhibited works will express a clear political dimension, having been chosen for their innovative part...WestEnd City Center Budapest
