Overbookings Policy

What is this policy for? As you are aware, Only-apartments has an immediate booking system. We work in this way because our experience has shown us that it is beneficial for clients (who do not have to wait for a response in order to make their booking) as well as the owner (who does not need to spend time exchanging emails and knows that when a booking is received, it is confirmed). This way, we avoid frustrations on both sides. The system is very beneficial to all, if it is used correctly. We have noticed that the most frequent complaint from our clients is when the booking they make with us is subsequently cancelled by the owner. A cancellation brings with it a high cost – the cost of our time spent solving the problem, and to our reputation. For this reason, owners and Only-apartments need to work together and focus on providing an excellent service to our clients. Experience tell us that in the majority of cases, the reason for an owner not accepting a reservation is because he or she has forgotten to update the calendar to show that the apartment has another booking. Another reason is that prices and seasons have not been updated. Please be advised that: – Failure to update prices for different seasons (Christmas, new year, Easter, summer holidays, etc.) or for events in your area (trade fairs, conferences, festivals, etc.) does not excuse you from the obligation to accept a reservation – Failure to keep the calendar updated – again, this does not excuse you for not accepting a reservation. Grande Prêmio do Brasil 2013

The three-time champion Sebastian Vettel wants to make history with his Red Bull team and become F1 world champion for the fourth time. Vettel continues to lead the standings with 272 points, followed by his archrival, the Spanish driver Fernando Alonso, who has 195 points and the British Lewis Hamilton, who has 167 points. After his victory in the Korean Grand Prix, Vettel scored his 8th win of the season and his 4th in a row, which increasingly seem to lead the German driver towards his fourth consecutive victory. Meanwhile, Fernando Alonso after 12 grand prix, has not been able to overtake Vettel in the standings so, Red Bull triumph in 2013 seems imminent. Photo: Marlon Hammes Many changes are coming in the Formula 1 especially for Ferrari’s team, which recently announced that Kimi Raikkonen will race with them in 2014. This news has caused much controversy, because it is rumored that the characters of the two drivers are not compatible, which could generate quite a lot internal problems. Meanwhile, the Brazilian Felipe Massa, current Alonso’s teammate, seems unhappy with what happened and said that he won’t race for Alonso anymore and concentrate on thinking of himself for the coming races. However, even more surprising, were the recent comments by the Ferrari’s president, Luca di Montezemolo, admiring the work of Raikkonen, who does not belong to his team yet, and who he couldn’t even bear a few years ago. Montezemolo has hinted that Raikkonen will fight for the championship and pretty much has established itself as the favorite for the 2014 championship. However, Alonso is not the only that will...

Cologne Carnival 2013

With the arrival of November and despite the cold weather, the German city of Cologne remains warm and cheerful thanks to its famous carnival. So if you´re one of those folks who enjoy partying till the wee hours of the morning, Cologne has to be your next destination. Although Cologne carnival has its beginnings with the establishment of the city itself, when the Romans assembled wheels on boats (carus navalis) while parading the city to worship Izida, the Goddess of Fertility, it is only until 1823 that the Venetian masquerade balls influenced the carnival with a costume tradition to make it what it is today. Photo: Martin Terber All the inhabitants of the beautiful city of Cologne eagerly await the arrival of November to celebrate their beloved carnival. On the 11th of November at 11 AM with 11 minutes and 11 seconds, this crazy carnival, famous among most Germans, begins. This memorable date is also known as the beginning of the so-called fifth season (The carnival season). After the famous 11-11-11 opening, celebrations are suspended for the period of Advent, Christmas and New Year, to continue on Thursday before Lent with a colorful feast at the famous city’s Alter Markt Square. “The crazy days”, as it is called this event, takes place between fat Thursday and Ash Wednesday. On Fat Thursday, the famous Weiberfastnacht is celebrated. This is a day when the women of Cologne have the right to cut the ties of the gentlemen who were cross their way, as a symbol of control over men, so if you have to wear a tie during Weiberfastnacht, it is better...

Tips for visiting New York

We do not want to take away the charming of getting surprised during your trip to New York, but it is always better be prepared before visiting the Big Apple. Don’t panic, even though you’ll encounter many surprises during your trip to New York, our tips will make your whole experience more pleasant, easier and more comfortable. Keep track of the Subway schedule It is important for you to know a few things about the New York subway. It is certainly one of the best ways of commuting from one place to another, because you’ll save the time you would spend at the endless traffic jams that happens on the streets of NYC. Be aware that the subway has a different schedule during the weekends. Given the fact that the subway is one of the most popular ways of transportation in the city, it is difficult to run maintenance works during weekdays, because the city would just become chaos. That´s why it is during the weekends when such works will take place, of course, changing the regular schedule. To get to know all changes in the timetables, visit the MTA website. Also keep in mind that there are lines that do not work during the weekends, so make sure the line you want to use will be actually working. Photo: derekskey Express or Local? You should know that there are two types of subway, express and local. The difference is simple: the Express are faster, because they just stop at some specific stations. On the other hand, the Local are slower, because they stop at every single station. Make...
