Palacio de las Artes Reina Sofía

The Palacio de las Artes Reina Sofía isn´t just one of the most important places in Valencia because, as well as being the opera theatre, the building is a work of art in itself which will surprise everyone who stands in front of it. The project was devised by Santiago Calatrava who is considered one of the most important architects of today.

The theatre was inaugurated in October 2005 and the first play that was interpreted was Fidelio by Beethoven.

The place is divided in four different rooms with different capacities and characteristics to give the visitors the best options. The most important one is the Sala Principal which has capacity for 1481 people and, despite having some problems in the last few years (like flooding), they´re all solved now.

Also, there´s the Aula Magistral where 400 people go in and it´s used especially for giving conferences or concerts.

The Auditorium has capacity for 1500 people and it´s an incredible place with a spectacular design which is used for classical music concerts to political meetings.

Finally, there´s the Exhibition Room which is another independent building with capacity for 400 people that´s used for theatre, dance and music.
