Come on, confess. After work you run home so impatient to cuddle your loved ones and take them out for a walk. No, not your partner or your children, we’re talking about the man of the house: your dog. Studies revealed that pets have positive influences on our mood. There even exists a so-called pet-therapy where not only cats and dogs but also horses and dolphins are used to break the social isolation and calm down the anxiety of certain patients.
Maybe this explains why we consider our four-legged friends as a part of the family, spoiling and pampering them. After all, for all the love they give us, they deserve the best. But it’s very important to take care of our pets the right way, thinking of their health and their diet. Sufficient exercise, an annual check-up at the vet’s and a varied diet, adjusted to the breed and age is crucial.
Of course you want your cat or dog to look their very best when you take them out for a walk. So go find the trendiest animal clothes of the season! Don’t bother anymore with those synthetic jackets with squares, they are so last year! Trendy dogs now wear coloured raincoats: pink, purple and blue, with stripes or flowers. For the real ‘Queen of the Block’ there even exist crowns with shiny sequins, while for’ Mister Elegant’ you can find cute ties or bows. In the specialized shops you can even find beds, fur coats for special occasions, hats an all kinds of accessories.
Don’t forget about hygiene either! If you don’t want paws and dog hair all over your bathroom, you’d better take your pet to a special centre where it will be professionally washed and groomed. And if that is not enough, you can take it for a visit to the hairdresser afterwards. If your dog is an Afghan hound or a Bobtail, don’t be afraid to use your imagination and let yourself go wild with pigtails and curls.
But most of all, a dog needs attention and company. If you leave them for a long time, they will feel lonely and abandoned. That means they could destroy your garden, or keep the neighbours up for nights in a row with their howling and barking. And all while you are laying on the beach with a cocktail in your hand – doesn’t sound fair now does it?
