Although there isn´t exact proof of when this sandwich restaurant opened in Lisbon, its owners think that it must have been around 1919. From Rua de Belém, the artery that crosses the City of the Taugus from end to end, Pâo Pâo Queijo Queijo (Bread Bread Cheese Cheese) makes the best sandwiches in the city. It´s a self service place where you can eat inside its restaurant, decorated with illustrated tiles with Portuguese sayings and sit on bright red seats (they also have a terrace).
They also do home delivery so if one day you don´t fancy leaving your comfortable apartments in Lisbon you can call (better to use the phone than the email, it´s quicker) to order a delicacy offered at Pâo Pâo Queijo Queijo. Remember that not only do they have crunchy and delicious baguettes (with vegetables and sauces) but also exotic kebabs in pitta bread, food platters and even light soups.
