The Piazza di Spagna in Rome is known worldwide for its relation to fashion. On its stairs many of the most famous fashions shows in the world take place with first class supermodels and the best (and most expensive) clothes brands.
It has that name because the shape of the square reminds one of the shape of the neighbouring country. Decorated with beautiful flowers of all colours, in spring, the Piazza di Spagna is one of the tourists´ favourite places to spend an afternoon in open air.
One of the streets that surrounds the square is Via Condotti, which they say is the most expensive street in Rome. It has the most luxurious shops in the city like Versace, Dolce & Gabbana and Armani.
The square has a fountain, built by Pietro Bernini in 1588. It represents a boat and it´s a reminder of the floods of that time, when the only form of salvation was to go on a small boat.
The famous steps of the Piazza di Spagna even have their own name, Monte della Trinità and they direct us towards the Church of La Trinità, located on the highest point of the square.
For all of this, the square represents a historical monument in the city of Rome and one that you can´t not visit if in the city. And to stay in city, rent apartments in Rome and make sure it´s a comfortable and relaxed stay.
