Pois Café Lisbon

Pois Café is a pleasant place created by an Austrian couple, ideal to have a snack, try a delicious dessert or simply having a cup of tea, coffee or a glass of wine with friends or family.

It was created in the old facilities of a spice shop, from which there´s only the old ceiling and three big arches left; the upper part of the building is residential, with the traditional style of apartments in Lisbon that make up the neighbourhood of Da Sé.

The decoration and the atmosphere are informal and very pleasant, with dozens of books for adults that can be flicked through while having a coffee and you´ll even be able to take one home if you put another one in its place.

The tables of Pois Café each represent a country, with its characteristic style. At the entrance there are some comfortable sofas that give the impression of being in your own home and which receives the name of Buenos Aires. At the side, there´s a sofa in between three walls, very comfortable for placing a tray with breakfast or having some tea, and this was inspired by Morocco, and so on there are other corners named after places around the globe.

On the menu there are various sandwiches, like the one inspired in the Caprese salad with tomatoes, basil and mozzarella. There´s also the vegetal one with mushrooms and salads like Olympia, with feta cheese, onion, tomato and olives. The desserts are very well represented by the lemon tart and a special mention goes to the traditional Austrian chocolate cake, the Sachertorte.
