Tour Maine-Montparnasse is the best spot in Paris to calmly watch the city at night. The Eiffel Tower stands straight ahead in the distance, at the end of the Champ de Mars. At the very top, on the 56th floor of this Parisian skyscraper you’ll find the highest restaurant in the city: Le Ciel de Paris. Its strategic location, modern design, gourmet menu, and elegant service make it one of the most romantic places in Europe.
Le Ciel de Paris restaurant was designed by Noé Duchaufour-Lawrence, who created a cozy, elegant, subtle, and very romantic atmosphere, dimly lit for Parisians to better enjoy the outside views. The venue was fully renovated and reopened its doors in 2012. Every element adds coherence and gives sense to the whole. In addition to dinner tables, there are two bars. One of them is a champagne bar, designed in caramel and champagne tones to give it a feeling of airiness and lightness. The other specializes in sweet and savory millefeuille (flaky pastries). The venue is pretty large, fitting up to 145 guests, and needless to say, all tables have views over the city of love.
And its recent success has been such that increasing numbers of tourists flock to the 56th floor looking to enjoy a 5 star experience in the heights. And as expected, the cuisine is up to décor standards. Chef Christophe Marchais’ menu includes dishes that combine a traditional French touch with marked international and intercontinental influences.
They do serve breakfast and lunch but we highly recommend you visit at dinner time, to fully enjoy the views over the city at night. You’ll bear witness to a thrilling visual show like few others: the Eiffel Tower’s light show. The lights go on at sunset, changing color and sparkling every hour on the hour. It looks as if sparks or diamonds were flying off the Tower itself, and it is an amazing spectacle to watch from Montparnasse. As mentioned, Le Ciel de Paris is hidden up in the heights. On floor 56 of the Maine-Montparnasse Tower and at a height of approximately 210 meters, the views are just breathtaking. To give you an idea, visibility can be up to 40 kilometers on clear days, which means you not only get to see Paris but also most of the suburbs around it. In that sense, there is nothing that compares or even comes close to it in a radius of kilometers.
Although Le Ciel de Paris is an exclusive, upscale restaurant, you’ll find prices for all budgets. Set menu prices run from 35 to 160 euros. And you’ll always be better off getting a menu than ordering a la carte.
If you want to surprise a special someone and make sure they never forget their Paris stay, don’t hesitate to take them to the city’s highest and most romantic point: Le Ciel de Paris.
