Get Lost in Secret Labyrinthine Gardens Across the Globe

Labyrinths are mystical and, as you know, originated from the legend of Theseus and the Minotaur. They have always served as an inspiration to writers and filmmakers, for example, in The Shining. In this post we will do a review of the most striking ones across the planet. But please note that in some of them you may spend up to four hours absolutely lost. They’re also great for children, giving them a chance to experience a different sort of adventure. If you start to feel overwhelmed, don’t worry. We recommend that you always go to the right. If that doesn’t work, you know you can always rely on your mobile phone for a solution. Wicklow, Venice, Miami and Barcelona. Each has its own unique and magical character. The Maze at Villa Pisani in Venice, Italy

It’s located in the Ribiera del Brenta, about 20 minutes from Venice. Known as the Queen of the Venetian Villas, it’s very famous for its rococo interior and its labyrinthine garden, which is considered the most complex in the world. Great historical figures have visited this maze, including Napoleon Bonaparte, who got lost here in 1807. And today, since there are no maps, tourists continue to get lost and need assistance from deep inside. The reward in the heart of Villa Pisani is a tower with a spiral staircase that one can also visit. This is also a great place to observe the confusion down in the maze below.

 

Russborough House in Wicklow, Ireland

This is one of the most elegant palace-mansions in Ireland and it is also a place full of mysteries. Its last owner was Alfred Beit. It´s a jigsaw puzzle and you’ll know that you have reached the center, ground zero, when you find a statue of cupidsymbolizing the Beit family with a diamond.

Labyrinth Park , Barcelona, Spain

The oldest and most romantic city, this park consists of hedges of up to 2 meters high that create an exact replica of the labyrinth of the Minotaur of Greek mythology. And once again, at the heart of this huge garden, you will find a statue of Cupid at the goal.

The Maze of Reignac-Sur-Indre, France

Built in 1996, it is considered the largest in the world. Full of sunflowers, it is famous for its castle, its medieval towers and its beautiful and romantic lakes.

 

Cawdor Castle in Nairn, Scotland

You will quite simply believe you have entered a fairy tale because this maze is especially romantic. It is based on Shakespeare ´s tragedy Macbeth. They say that it’s the perfect place to get lost at least twice, once is not enough.

 

Biscayne Bay, Miami, USA

This secret garden was created by Deering. Built in 1916 inside a huge Italian villa, today it is a sort of museum residence. This beautiful garden is decorated with orchids. And although it is not the longest or the most difficult, we can say it is one of the most spectacular in the world and one of the few that you can explore at night. But you should know that it can be quite scary.
