Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum

Occupying a mansion with neoclassic design which dates from 1806, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, according to many critics, possesses some of the most important private art collections in the whole world and, undoubtedly, in Madrid.


The place, which was created by the Baron Heinrich Thyssen-Bornemisza and his son Hans Henrich. illustrates the western art history since the primitive Flemish up to the most Italian painters of Pop art of the 20th century.


The Spanish State bought the museum in 1993 and today it´s one of the most important ones that there is in the country, which complements El Prado and the Reina Sofía museums because it adds many artists of the 20th century.
